Nyasa District Council employs its own internal auditors who shall closely with the Heads of Departments and shall report directly to the accounting office administratively but functionary report to Audit Committee in order:

1. To  examine and evaluate in an independent manner, internal control system, management risks and good governance process and provide recommendations for improvement, thus providing assurances and assistance to management and staff in achievement of organization
2. Adviser who was thought to be reasonable objective (assurances service and consulting service) and concerned about helping the organization achieves the stated goals.
